Dr. Arona Diop, PT, DPT, CMTP/DN
During the first years of my career as a physical therapist, I quickly realized the importance of a thorough understanding of the complex interactions of all of the body’s systems. I found that patients were being failed by our healthcare system due to the siloed nature of each speciality.
I once met with a patient who came to physical therapy for a lower body injury. During a session, I learned she was also dealing with GI symptoms in the form of debilitating stomach cramps. By asking her questions beyond her injury about her life, lifestyle, and medical history, I recognized the hallmark signs of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. This diagnosis was missed by the patient’s cardiologist, gastroenterologist, and orthopedic doctor. Because each doctor focused on the part of the body they specialized in, they failed to realize the body is a sum of the complex interactions of all those parts.
I do not want patients to fall through the cracks of our healthcare system.
I employ a modern and holistic approach to determine the root causes of patients’ issues. With an extensive background in anatomy and physiology, as well as the myofascial system, I work with patients across all ages to achieve the function, movement, and pain free life they want.
